About the Red Seal exam
What the interprovincial exam is, how it's structured by trade, and what to expect on exam day.
The Red Seal exam (formally the Interprovincial Standards Program) is a national certification exam that lets Canadian tradespeople work in any province or territory without re-examination. A passing score earns you a Red Seal endorsement on your Certificate of Qualification. Exams are administered by your provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority — Red Seal Canada sets the standard, but your province schedules the sitting.

•
Set your exam date on the dashboard so you get a countdown and study calendar.
•
Complete one lesson in your heaviest-weight MWA to seed your readiness score.
•
Check Progress — any weak tasks flagged early are worth fixing before you go wide.
